Curious about how bitrate affects lossy audio compression, I extracted one bar of music from a lossless .wav file and experimented with Audacity, Opus encoder, Lame mp3 encoder, and Amr encoder using a variety of configuration settings. My next step for this project is to visualize the compressed audio through spectrograms.
Eager to push myself and my art beyond what I previously thought possible, I created 100 pieces of digital art in 10 days using Paint.net (open-source, image-editing software). Recognizing that the journey itself is the vehicle by which we grow, my theme for this project was how the mind works.
To communicate ideas and encourage discussion, @the.westward.expansion needed graphics they could display or loop at any point in their live Instagram broadcasts. Despite the constraints of the live broadcast format, I used OBS Studio and Photomosh to create images and composite video elements they can use to engage their audience.
Given that code is simply another way to express ideas and actions, I used Python 3.8 code to describe how the mind might continually grow and improve using regular cycles of self-analysis and testing. Then, rendered the images with Paint.net.
